Itinerary
Your guide and driver will meet you at the airport.
After a quick stop at your hotel and lunch, you'll spend the day exploring Paro valley.
An avid hiker will find this experience deeply rewarding. Bask in the scent of pine trees as you climb the trail in and out of the woods. Let your imagination run wild as your guide narrates the Buddhist mythology surrounding this place to keep you company on your hike.
When you get to the top, let the cold mountain air, the waterfall cascading down the cliff, and the ambiance of a secluded monastery inspire a spiritual experience for you.
On the first day of the trek, you will drive up to Shana and begin your trek along the Paro river to your campsite. If the weather permits, trekkers will have a view of Mount Jomolhari from the campsite.
The hike to the base of Mount Jomolhari is scenic. You will pass through many yak herders’ winter houses. The campsite for the night is below a ruin of an ancient fortress at 4080 meters.
You will halt at the base for acclimatisation.
After a day of acclimatisation and recovery, you'll head to Lingzhi. On this stretch, you'll cross over Nyelila Pass at 4700 metres before descending to your campsite.
You'll cover 18 kilometres and walk for about 7 hours.
The hike to Shodu will peak at 4820 metres at Yelila Pass, the maximum elevation on this trek.
The trail to Barshong follows the Thimphu River. The campsite is at an altitude of 3710 metres.
Trekkers will gradually descent through the thick forests to Dolamkencho.
On the final leg of the trek, you'll enter Jigme Dorji National Park and exit from Dodena. You will be driven to your hotel for a well-earned hot shower and a good night's sleep.
You'll spend the day exploring the capital Thimphu city.
